A new musical titled "Warriors," co-created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis, is slated to premiere on Broadway in April 2027.

The production is an adaptation of the 1979 film *The Warriors* and the novel of the same name.

This development brings a new take on a classic story to the stage, offering a fresh perspective on the source material.

Unlike the original film and book, which depict male-on-male gang violence, the Broadway adaptation will feature an all-female cast.

The concept for the musical was initially introduced on a 2024 album that included artists such as Ms.

Lauryn Hill, Nas, Ghostface Killah, Phillipa Soo, and Joshua Henry.

No casting details for the Broadway production have been confirmed yet.

Miranda and Davis expressed their enthusiasm for the project in a joint statement, saying, "With Warriors, we take a fateful journey through New York City full of heart and grit as our characters fight to survive.

Musicalizing such a vibrant world for the concept album has been a thrill, and now we’re coming out to play on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne.

We can’t wait."

## Production Team for the Warriors Musical

The creative team behind the "Warriors" musical includes Jenny Koons, who will make her Broadway directorial debut.

Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler, known for his choreography in Miranda’s *Hamilton* and *In the Heights*, will serve as co-director and choreographer.

Thomas Kail, who directed *Hamilton*, is set to produce the musical alongside Miranda and his father, Luis A.

Miranda Jr.

The show will be staged at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
