Disney+ has announced the renewal of its European original series, 'Rivals', for a third season.

This decision comes ahead of the full release of the second season, with the final six episodes scheduled to drop in November.

'Rivals', which features a cast including David Tennant, Aidan Turner, and Danny Dyer, has been a significant success for the streamer.

Disney+ stated that the first six episodes of Season 2 made the show its biggest EMEA original to premiere in the UK and Ireland.

The series is also available on Hulu in the United States.

The upcoming third season is set to delve deeper into the scandalous aftermath of Season 2.

According to Disney+, the new season will see stakes rise, alliances become more fragile, and new romances blossom, alongside the rekindling of old flames and the spilling of shocking secrets.

The show is based on Jilly Cooper's novel, part of her bestselling Rutshire Chronicles.

Lee Mason, VP Scripted at Disney+ EMEA, expressed enthusiasm for the renewal, crediting the show's success to Jilly Cooper's creative world, the cast, and the production team.

Mason indicated that audiences can expect "more ambition, more romance, more rivalries and, of course, more scandal" in the return to Rutshire.

The creative team behind 'Rivals', including Jilly Cooper's agent Felicity Blunt, has described the series as a tribute to the late author, who passed away during the filming of Season 2.

The third season will be executive produced by Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Alexander Lamb, Olivier Award-winning playwright Laura Wade, and Blunt.

The early renewal demonstrates Disney's commitment to the Jilly Cooper adaptation, a move that signals confidence in the series' continued performance and audience engagement.
