Walt Disney Studios has achieved a significant financial milestone, becoming the first studio in 2026 to cross the $3 billion mark at the global box office.

This accomplishment underscores Disney's continued dominance in the entertainment industry, a position it has held as the world's number one studio in nine of the last ten years.

A major contributor to this success is "Toy Story 5," which secured the second-best opening for a Pixar animated movie, earning $312 million worldwide.

The Andrew Stanton-directed film has since accumulated over $367 million globally.

Other notable contributors to Disney's 2026 box office performance include 20th Century Studios' "The Devil Wears Prada 2," which brought in $677.6 million and pushed its franchise past $1 billion, and "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu," which grossed over $323 million despite a relatively lower opening.

Additional films like Pixar's "Hoppers" ($372 million) and 20th Century Studios' "Send Help" ($94 million) also contributed, alongside the ongoing success of 2025 releases such as "Avatar: Fire and Ash" and "Zootopia 2." All of Disney's 2026 theatrical releases to date have opened at the number one spot.

Looking ahead, Disney has a robust slate of upcoming theatrical releases for the remainder of the year.

These include the live-action "Moana" (July 10), Ridley Scott's "The Dog Stars" from 20th Century Studios (August 28), Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Hexed" (November 25), and Marvel Studios' highly anticipated "Avengers: Doomsday" (December 18).

In a recent announcement from CineEurope, the studio also detailed plans for "Infinity Vision," a new certification program for exhibitors' Premium Large Format (PLF) screens.

This initiative coincides with the re-release of Marvel Studios' retitled "Avengers: Endgame Encore" on September 25, which will feature a custom introduction, new footage, and a special end tag exclusive to Infinity Vision and IMAX releases, ahead of "Avengers: Doomsday."
