Vasana Montgomery Removed from 'Love Island USA' Cast Over N-Word Videos
Vasana Montgomery will no longer appear in the upcoming season of “Love Island USA,” which is set to premiere on Peacock on June 2.
Her removal follows the emergence of social media videos in which she is seen using the N-word.
This development comes just two days after the Season 8 cast was announced, highlighting a recurring issue for the reality dating series.
This incident mirrors a situation from the previous year, where Yulissa Escobar was removed from the show during its second episode due to videos featuring her using the same slur.
Later in that same season, Cierra Ortega also exited after using a racist term for Asian people, which she claimed she was unaware was a slur.
The repeated nature of these incidents suggests a challenge in the vetting process for the show's participants.
Two distinct videos circulating online show Montgomery using the N-word.
In one video, she is heard saying, “Knock knock, n----” while seemingly playing a shooting game at an arcade.
The second video depicts her in a car, rapping along to a song that includes the word.
It is believed that both videos were initially posted to private accounts and only became public after the cast announcement, potentially explaining why they were not identified during Peacock’s initial screening.
Montgomery, 25, hails from Beaverton, Oregon.
In a teaser for the cast announcement, she described herself as “the full package,” noting her business ownership, independent living, and dog.
She also stated that her friends would describe her type by showing a world map.
“Love Island USA” is scheduled to air new episodes daily during its premiere week, followed by daily episodes thereafter, with the exception of Wednesdays.
The series is hosted by Ariana Madix and narrated by Iain Stirling.
Executive producers include David George, Adam Sher, Jordana Hochman, Bernie Schaeffer, Ben Thursby-Palmer, James Barker, Blake Garrett, Courtney Rosenthal, Sophie Brown, Richard Cowles, Mike Spencer, Tom Gould, Ali Hill, and Martin Oxley.
ITV America produces the show in collaboration with Lifted Entertainment and Motion Entertainment.
