Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic, 'The Odyssey,' has achieved a significant milestone in its pre-release phase, with its first-day advance Premium Large Format (PLF) ticket sales at AMC being the highest for a major studio film since 2022.

This development indicates strong early interest in Nolan's latest project following his multi-Oscar-winning 'Oppenheimer.'

Sources indicate that these initial PLF presales for 'The Odyssey' have not only set a new record for PLF tickets but have also outpaced all first-day presales, including standard formats, for any major theatrical release since 2022.

The film's first-day PLF sales are also reported to be the best AMC has seen year-to-date for any studio title.

Only music-focused projects, such as the concert films for Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, which were released within AMC's own network by AMC Theatres Distribution, have generated higher first-day advance ticket sales at the circuit's U.S.

multiplexes.

On the day tickets went on sale, AMC's ticketing websites reportedly experienced wait times of up to an hour for 'The Odyssey,' which later decreased to eight minutes.

In contrast, other major circuits like Regal and Cinemark did not report similar long wait times for presales of the Nolan film.

The initial ticket availability on Thursday was limited to Imax at AMC, Dolby Cinema at AMC, and Prime at AMC auditoriums.

Universal had previously put 70MM and 70MM Imax tickets for 'The Odyssey' on sale a full year in advance, which reportedly sold out.

The film is set to open on July 20, and Nolan shot the movie in Imax, securing a three-week hold on these large format auditoriums.

Despite the strong early sales, more than 6 million seats remain available for 'The Odyssey' showtimes in Imax at AMC, Dolby Cinema at AMC, and Prime at AMC.

Tickets for traditional showtimes are expected to become available later this month, which will add millions more seats at AMC locations nationwide for the film's opening weekend.

'The Odyssey' features a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, and Robert Pattinson.

The film is produced by Emma Thomas.
